Satin Bower Birds at Middle Path





Male Satin Bower Bird ~ Ptilonorhynchus violaceus

A male Satin Bower bird in a moment of pause - the photo does no justice to the rich irridescent hue of his feathers when the sun strikes them.


The female of the species - blessed with bright blue eyes and looking nothing like the male, these birds are "blessed" with one of the most unmusical raucous screeches we hear at Middle Path.

And here's where the action takes place - the bower liberally strewn-around with neighbours pegs, milk bottle tops and other blue items.
