Furnishing

the fleshing out process

The kitchen - complete with containers, cannisters and cooking gear.

It's amazing how quickly a space can be filled - no matter how long it took to build!

The desk in the flight deck - built from a large river she-oak flitch.

This website is being built right there!

The shelves in Trijntje's clinic room - once again our store of river she-oak flitches came in very handy.

To test their load-bearing capacity, we hung 2 fully-grown men from the top shelf - not a quiver!

The shelf brackets are made from locally-sawn thick slices of sally wattle (also known as black wattle).

At last - after many years neglect and standing in paddocks under tarps etc - the family bed is reassembled, dusted down and put in place!

We found everything - all the screws and bits and pieces needed to put it together, although we did elect to replace the slats with new oak ones.

But wait - there's more - the bedhead still lit up without a hitch - we were quite overjoyed as the many bush rats who had made it there home at different times had mercifully spared the wiring!
