Alerted to our presence a tree snake heads for the canopy

A Green Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis punctulata) has become alarmed at human presence and heads for the top story of the tree canopy at high speed.

These beautiful non-venomous snakes are welcome visitors but their keen eyesight is able to spot frogs which form a major part of their diet.


She scaled our avocado tree so quickly it was a challenge to keep the camera focussed and her in the frame at the same time.


Moving swiftly her head blurs as she seeks higher purchase
